Fresh off a national tour performing Radiohead's OK Computer every night all over the USA, everywhere from symphony halls to rock clubs, Portland Cello Project announces the vinyl and CD release party for their January 2019 release, Homage to Radiohead.

The album is comprised of massively orchestral arrangements of music from throughout Radiohead’s career, and features instrumental arrangements as well as adaptations with singers Patti King (The Shins), Adam Shearer and Nafisaria Scroggins, Maiah Wynne, and Kat Moore.

Other special guests on the record include the Fischoff Prize-winning wind quintet The City of Tomorrow, and an all-star cast of guest Portland instrumentalists, including Farnell Newton (Aretha Franklin, George Clinton, The Othership Connection), Damian Erskine (Jaco Pastorius, Gino Vanelli), and Dave Depper (Death Cab For Cutie).

Album Preview:

Woven into the show that evening is also the celebration of the release of Matters in Such a Manner, which is the a record that Patti King (The Shins) made in collaboration with Portland Cello Project. Released under the name Patrician, this solo work represents a new level of artistic development for King. Recorded in her home studio and co-produced with partner Randy Bemrose (Radiation City, Junkface), the album relies on influences from the likes of Radiohead, Air, and Beck in addition to themes of social commentary and personal relationships.

Portland Cello Project (or... The Cello Project -- really whichever you prefer) is a genre-defying cello ensemble known for reimagining everything from Bach to Beyoncé. Based in Portland, Oregon, the group has built a reputation for pushing the boundaries of classical instrumentation by bringing cello-driven performances to rock clubs, concert halls, and festivals across the country.

Since it's founding nearly 20 years ago, Cello Project (or PCP as its fans sometimes affectionately call them) has collaborated with an eclectic range of artists and performed bold arrangements of hip-hop, pop, metal, and indie-rock, all through the lens of classical technique and adventurous orchestration. With a rotating cast of classically-trained cellists, the group blends tradition with experimentation, aiming to make cello music accessible, unexpected, and alive.

Whether they're performing an homage to Radiohead, or Prince, or performing original compositions by Cello Project members, or teaming up with contemporary musical icons, Portland Cello Project delivers unforgettable live shows worldwide that redefine what a cello can do while wowing diverse audiences.
